Smile and snap your fingers to iconic music by some of the 20th century’s greatest American composers, including two works wildly successful with audiences and Hollywood —Gershwin’s An American in Paris and Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Fresh off the success of Rhapsody in Blue, Gershwin composed his “rhapsodic ballet” – a warm, whirlwind tour of big city sights and sounds with surprises around every corner – you can even hear the Parisian taxi horns!Â
The evening begins with the stunning melodies of Barber’s Second Essay for Orchestra before Randall Goosby makes his highly anticipated return, performing Florence Price’s sweepingly passionate Violin Concerto No. 2 and aptly named Adoration.
Celebrate the 75th anniversary of Onstage Ogden with a concert as dynamic as our city.
