Holst’s The Planets: An HD Odyssey

Symphonic Voyage Through the Skies

Utah Symphony

🗓️ Thursday, March 27 at 7:30PM
đź“Ť
Browning Center at WSU

Take a trip through the skies with Holst’s The Planets: An HD Odyssey. Sampled, stolen, and cherished for over a century, The Planets’ blockbuster sounds have inspired many larger-than-life composers, including John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Your Utah Symphony will perform this colossal composition while the latest NASA images from modern space voyages tower overhead, providing a stunning celestial canvas. Our journey starts with a (big) bang, as the resolute rhythms of Mars (Bringer of War) lead the march into the transcendent beauty of Venus (Bringer of Peace). An epic multimedia event, The Planets is perfectly paired with Miguel FarĂas’ Retratos Australes (Southern Portraits), echoing the theme of mysterious beauty, and Jessie Montgomery’s Hymn for Everyone. Join us for this spectacular interstellar adventure.
